The Chaplaincy training at Neighbourhood will be Nov.30 – Dec.1 and will cover Basic Training, Weddings and Interview Techniques. Our training facilitators will be Wayne, Gillian and Naomi with a possible fourth facilitator to be named later. The training fees will be covered by the board and by the CUC. This training session will be open to other congregations.
The Chaplaincy committee will have regular meetings every 2nd Thursday of the month from 7:30 – 9:00 pm. Meetings will include an activity component like role-playing, improv techniques and meditations, for example.
The Neighbourhood chaplain selection process will include interviews with all candidates following the training session … so during the month of December. We will announce our new chaplains to the congregation at a special chaplaincy service in the new year.
Gillian will be the secretary for the Chaplaincy Commitee and Wray has offered to assist in board liaison.
We will be writing and presenting our own opening and closing words at our monthly meetings. This is to help hone our skills at writing meaningful passages for rituals like weddings and funerals.
At our October meeting, Gillian will present an activity: Interview techniques for people who are grieving (preparing for a funeral).
At our October meeting, I will write the opening words and Kurt will write our closing words.
