My Calling
“The place God calls you is the place where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet.”
– Frederick Buechner
Having a vocation or hearing the call to a particular life originally referred to what God had planned for one.
I have been called to music ministry and community music-making. I didn’t hear a voice; I asked myself questions and listened to the still small voice inside. I had no idea how far it would take me! This vocation demands me to be awake to the present moment, connect, create and share energy. Unlike many of my friends, I never heard the call to be a performer or a teacher. I just wanted to collaborate, to share and create with other souls. Now I am working with singers, dancers, poets, healers, other musicians and spiritual leaders.
I know it is my vocation because I am always challenged and called higher … to deepen my understanding and connections, my awareness, my skills. Music is eternal, universal, intangible, inspiring. My calling is to touch souls, and to open hearts.
I would love to hear your stories and share discussion about your vocations.
