“What gift can we bring, what present, what token?”
These are the opening words of a United Methodist offering hymn.
At some point, we have been asked – or have asked ourselves – these all-important questions. While deepening our understanding of ourselves and the world we have felt called to offer our gifts in service to that world, through our relationships and in our community.
We all have some gift that we can use to make a positive change in our world.
I have the gift of music. Both my heart and mind are tuned to loving and sharing sounds. I have balance, leadership skills, musical-training and a desire and longing to be of useful service. I see myself as a community musician bringing music to my neighbourhood, partaking in what is good and beautiful with others, in shared, creative expression.
I welcome all people who feel the power of music to share their spirit and soul in service to our religious community.
As the well-loved UU hymn says, “for all life is a gift which we are called to use to build the common good.”
