Our Music: We All Have A Creative Nature

by Susanne Maziarz, Music Director at Neighbourhood
Singing is play, exercise, and pleasure for our soul. It is direct and comes from deep within us; it is the very air we breathe coupled with our creative energy and sensitivity. Everyone has their own song to sing.
Members of the Spirit Choir have told me that as children they were taught to hide their voices, to remain silent while others around them were singing, that their voices weren’t good enough. So they locked the door to musical expression for years. Someone teases us, or criticizes us, and we repress our creative impulse. Even our own self-judgments can make our souls hide — they don’t want to bare themselves to a cruel world. We are led to believe that singing and music are things that should be bought and sold, and only made by professionals.
We all have a creative nature. It is life’s desire to express itself through each individual. Join us in exploring our musicality through congregational singing, Morning Chant or Singing Meditation, Spirit Choir, Comfort Choir, Spirit Band, Dances of Universal Peace and more.
