1.0 Overview of Agenda.
2.0 Yearly, monthly, weekly themes
3.0 Theological understanding woven throughout themes.
Wayne explained the origins of the sets of themes.
Process is to enable members to mature through meta-themes to be heroes versus those who are entertained; becoming an individual and also part of community by giving back. Both sides are necessary for a whole life.
We spoke about diversity: diversity within self, within community, and within society. About the giants upon whose shoulders we stand on; the shadow side of heroes; the UU figures who are our elders; how a circle of support fosters a hero; heroic communities.
Creation of a spiritual life is an art, to create a religious life is not a rote exercise.
Action: SLs to take a UU spiritual leader and do some research and present them at the September SL Small Group.
4.0 Calendar
We focused on open themes/speakers for the first six weeks starting in September. We scheduled SLs until the end of October. We will meet again in early September.
Action: Members to contact possible speakers (David Suzuki, Chris Lawrence, Lee McKenna, Amy Gotlieb, Johanna Manning, etc.).
SLs to use website to access schedule, script, instructions for projector set-up.
Currently there is a limit of ten (10) members for this committee.
Action: Gordon to repair and lift limitation to ten (10) members of the Sunday Services Committee group.
Action: SLs to contact Rick Salay to obtain a password.
Action: Gordon to add Keith Park to email group so Keith can access the calendar and know
about different setups, etc.
